MercuryNews.com | 01/23/2006 | Ellison misses Fusion update because of flu

MercuryNews.com 01/23/2006 Ellison misses Fusion update because of flu: "Software giant Oracle literally rolled out the red carpet for its customers, financial analysts and the press last week when it hosted the first anniversary of its merger with PeopleSoft at San Francisco's City Hall.Under the city's beaux arts-style gilded dome, Oracle hosted more than 1,000 customers and partners, all curious for an update on Oracle's Fusion product. Fusion is Oracle's software platform and application suite that will meld its current offerings with the best attributes of the applications developed by companies it has bought in its recent spending spree.Oracle President Charles Phillips hammered home the message that ``Oracle is halfway to Fusion.'' But the complete launch will occur as previously forecast in 2008.As the event drew to a close, Phillips told a disappointed audience that Chief Executive Larry Ellison was not able to make it because he was coming down with the flu."
