New data transfer tool could ease SAP upgrades: "The tool was previously used by SAP's services organization to help customers migrate data from one instance to another. SAP executives decided to make the tool available to SAP customers who are experiencing trouble moving data across SAP environments to conduct testing of new software development, implementations and upgrades.
Called the SAP Test Data Migration Server, the tool simplifies the process of extracting representative application data from a productive system and standardizes the set-up of non-productive systems.
'The process for migrating data from production to non production has been a real headache job for IT support staff,' said Paul Hamerman, vice president of enterprise applications at Forrester Research Inc. 'This tool is what SAP needs to make the process easier and support upgrades and implementations.' "
