SAP sees most customers using new core product by 2009 - MarketWatch

SAP sees most customers using new core product by 2009 - MarketWatch: "German software giant SAP AG (SAP) anticipates that virtually all its customers will have migrated to the company's new core product by the end of 2009, a senior SAP executive responsible for product development said Tuesday.
Shai Agassi, who is also a member of SAP's executive board said: 'In 18 months 6,000 ERP customers will have migrated, and 15 months later that number will rise to 15,000.' Agassi was speaking in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires at the sidelines of SAP's customer-event Sapphire in Paris.
ERP, or Enterprise Resource Planning, is software that automates back-office functions of corporations. SAP has build its business on ERP systems R/2 and R/3. With R/3, SAP became the world's largest business-software maker, expanding its annual sales to about $10 billion last year from around $1 billion in the mid-1990s. "
