Oracle Boosts 4Q View, Stock Gains - Forbes.com: "Oracle said its results were fueled by a 32 percent increase in software-license sales, to $21.2 billion, up from a previous company estimate of 8 percent to 18 percent growth.
Chief Executive Larry Ellison has been boosting Oracle's growth by acquiring a string of smaller rivals including PeopleSoft and Siebel Systems Inc.
Among specific software areas, Oracle said database technology license sales grew 18 percent while applications license sales rose 83 percent. Excluding Oracle's acquisitions of Siebel Systems and Retek Inc., application license sales rose 56 percent from a year ago. "
