RED HERRING | Oracle Talks to Demantra

RED HERRING Oracle Talks to Demantra: "Since then, the Redwood Shores, California-based company has acquired 18 other companies, mostly in the business applications space, to compete head-to-head with Walldorf, Germany-based SAP.

The acquisition, if it happens, will give Oracle an edge in the area of software for the retail and consumer packaged goods industries, on which the company is trying to focus. Oracle has bought Retek, ProfitLogic, and 360Commerce in recent months to solidify its presence in the retail industry (see Oracle Buys ProfitLogic and Oracle Snags Retek).
