Forrester Research: SAP Bolsters Midmarket Focus With Two New Offerings

Forrester Research: SAP Bolsters Midmarket Focus With Two New Offerings: "Forrester's take: Major apps vendors have been touting visual configuration tools for some time, but SAP appears close to actually delivering process-model driven configuration. The advanced design is consistent with an emerging trend in applications construction that Forrester is referring to as 'Dynamic Applications.' Flexible model-driven configuration is an important innovation that will transfer control of application management to the business user and enable greater business agility and lower IT support costs. The downside? The current state of SAP's process visualization tooling (as represented in the demonstration prototype), however, is too complex for a full transfer of ownership. Plus, A1S customers will only get access to a limited amount of the inherent flexibility that this model-driven architecture offers.
It should be noted that SAP did not demonstrate the A1S application user interface at its analyst event, only the configuration tools, so we have not evaluated the quality of the UI versus SAP All-in-One. SAP has promised to deliver further information on the product functionality, usability, architecture, and go-to-market strategy in the year to come. "
