Oracle updates licensing models
Oracle updates licensing models: "The company yesterday announced that it has streamlined pricing across its applications portfolio, including JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, Siebel and Oracle E-Business Suite products.
With more than 20 acquisitions under its belt over the last few years, Oracle says the newly announced pricing model is designed to create consistency across its various product lines.
The new licensing program includes the Component Model, the Custom Applications Suite Model, the Enterprise Applications Model and the SMB Model.
Oracle says the Component Model is 'a simple a la carte' plan that offers on demand, or utility-based pricing.
The Custom Application Suite Model offers the ability to create custom bundles based on specific business needs.
The Enterprise Applications Model sets prices based on specific metrics, such as a firm's annual revenue, and it offers unlimited use of applications. "
