SAP targets strong US growth this year - Yahoo! News: "Nevertheless, sales growth in 2006 was disappointing at only 11.7 percent, short of the expectations of both analysts and the group itself.
'We had headwind from the forex side,' McDermott said. He rejected suggestions that there was any fundamental weakness.
'2006 was a very strong year. After attaining records in 17 previous quarters, it's difficult to carry on achieving high percentage growth rates. It's normal that the growth rate slows when the base has expanded,' he said.
SAP's archrival in the US is Oracle, but the German giant has managed to gain market share in the region, McDermott said."
